And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Now I will praise the LORD.” Therefore she called his name Judah.

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, “Who shall be first to go up for us against the Canaanites to fight against them?

And the LORD said, “Judah shall go up. Indeed I have delivered the land into his hand.”

The phrase "Send Judah First" embodies the philosophy that by giving praise to God in all things and at all times, we can overcome all adversity. In Biblical times, musicians - worshippers - marched at the front of Israel's army. They were the first ones into battle. The walls of Jericho itself were felled with a mighty shout of worship.

Send Judah First is Gospel Light's own Gospel Choir. Judah sings at all specal events and holidays. This group is made up of members of Gospel Light Community Church, both musicians and singers, who share a vision of praising God at all times.

Judah began as an informal Gospel choir group, but as time went by the group developed into what it is today. Asked more and more to minister, the group formalized and began to rehearse on a regular basis, develop new music, and improve their technical vocal abilities. In 2007, Judah added musicians to the vocalists, providing a complete, live Gospel sound.

Send Judah First has ministered around the northeast. They are most often heard in their home city of Bridgeport Connecticut, where they have ministered at public schools, parks, churches and the University of Bridgeport. They have sung at outreaches, street meetings, home-going services and weddings. They are regularly featured at Beacon of Light Community Church in Waterbury, and at the Harvest Fellowship of Churches annual gatherings.

Under the direction of Faye and Justin Phillips, Send Judah First ministers with a mix of contemporary and traditional gospel music.
